After a shy start on Tuesday 22nd, for a total of 3 million tons TAC of anchovy, the results sharply jumped to catches over 50,000 MT fish per day. Captures could be affected in the coming days by the mini-bans set already, and by rough sea, but it is anyway a nice beginning.
Another good news is the oil yield, that is presently around 2.3-2.4% and therefore a better figure than the 1 % we had at the start of the past anchovy campaign. Regarding EPA and DHA profiles, is maybe too early to say , but producers informing that they are good as summations around 30% in most of the cases, but somewhat biased to ´balanced´ PUFAs, like EPA/DHA of 16/14, 17/ 13 and even 15/ 14 in some shifts.
