Authorities finally published on April 11th the new game rules for the new winter anchovy campaign for the North-Central regions:
Fishing to start on April 16th, 00 hours, for a quota of 2.475 million tons, totally in line with our estimations, from a biomass of 9.978 million tons of anchovy, according to the latest report of the Institute of Peruvian Sea (IMARPE) on the Status of the North-Central Stock of the Peruvian anchoveta (Engraulis ringens).
Restrictions for fish size (below 12 cm are considered juvenile) persist; will see in few days how is the activity going after the first days of labour: catching results are the most important factor for a successful season, and could be affected by the important number (approx. 80%) of small fish found.
